Do you feel like you never have enough time in the day to relax and truly unwind? I know I do! Working crazy hours at three jobs, squeezing in exercise, cooking, cleaning, writing, and above all, being a wife and mom can take a lot out of a person! If you occasionally feel run-down and stressed-out too, it’s no surprise.

Life’s probably not going to slow down anytime soon, so what can you do? Trying to keep up with our fast-paced society’s demands can lead to stress, and unfortunately, stress can cause health problems such as headaches, insomnia, poor focus, and in severe cases, depression.

Here’s what I do daily to stay happy and healthy, no matter what life throws my way:

  • Treat Yourself

Treat yourself to a luxury item you’ll use or see every day that you love. It can even be functional, such as a quality mattress. The ComforPedic iQ from Beautyrest is a new mattress coming out that I have my eye on!

  • Slow Down, Just for a Moment

Running after a toddler should be considered an Olympic sport (especially while pregnant!), even more so when you’re trying to accomplish other things. If you’re so frazzled that you can barely pay attention to what you’re doing, slow down and focus on one task at a time. Once you’ve finished chore #1, take some well-deserved time to relax.

  • Do Something You Love

Taking a little time for a favorite hobby each day can help you relax and unwind like nothing else! My stress-relievers are getting onto my yoga mat or trying a new recipe in my kitchen. Whether yours is taking walks, practicing yoga, or a favorite book or TV show, spend a few minutes on yourself – you won’t regret it!

  • Get Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep is essential to achieving stress-free, happy days and nights. If you have problems falling asleep, it might not be you, but your uncomfortable, stiff mattress. The ComforPedic iQ is a mattress worth considering, because it adapts to your pressure points and sleeping position without any annoying plugs or electronics to deal with.

Well, there you have it! Treat yourself whenever you can, and make sure you get your beauty rest, even when life (or your toddler) tries to keep you going 24/7. After all, you have a lot to accomplish, and you need to be fully charged to seize the day.

I would definitely recommend yoga as a stress buster. When I want to do some “moving meditation” I’ll do Tai Chi.
