Good morning! Howzit?
I have a new recipe for you all today! This was a smoothie gone wrong. I was attempting to make a “pudding smoothie” but it was too “pudding-like” to drink. Still tasty though. After accepting that it wasn’t going to work out the way I originally planned I decided to play with it a little more and embrace that it was meant to be pudding.
I packed this one up with some great nutrients! It’s a great way to sneak in some veggies for your precious little one that would rather pass on the greens [Z, I'm lookin' at you. And 90% of the other 3 year olds out there

this nutrient-packed recipe is vegan, gluten-free, nut-free and soy-free!
Chocolate Protein Pudding
© The Fitness Dish
Serves 2
ingredients:
1 ripe avocado
-1 small very ripe banana
-2 pitted Medjool dates
-1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-1 T shredded coconut [optional if you're not a fan]
-1 T hemp seeds
-1 small handful of raw spinach
-1/4 cup of frozen berries [I used goji berries, you can use strawberries or raspberries, etc]
-3 1/2 T raw cacao powder [or regular unsweetened cocoa powder]
1/4+ cup unsweetened vanilla Tempt hemp milk [start with 1/4 and go from there to get to get the right consistency]
-2 T raw cacao nibs [or mini dairy-free chocolate chips such as "Enjoy Life"]
-1 scoop protein powder of choice [chocolate Vega whole food optimizer is divine; the sample size packet's at Whole Foods]
-a few drops of liquid stevia [or add another 1 T of maple syrup, honey or sweetener of choice]
directions:
Place the avocado and banana in your food processor or vitamix and blend for a couple of seconds. Add the dates, cinnamon, coconut (if using), spinach and berries and sweetener. Then slowly add in the cacao and protein, followed by the hemp milk until you reach the right consistency. Top each serving with some cacao nibs. Best served chilled.
Tip: for added “fluff” add 2 Tablespoons of chia seeds and let sit overnight!

I’m definitely not a coconut fan so I’d be leaving it out, but this sounds like a delicious recipe!!
I gotta get some of your staple ingredients in my kitchen! I am tempted to start making his “special veggies” again (mango spinach puree) to see if he will eat it. I hear E-Weez is getting some more big girl food! Exciting stuff!! xoxoxo
I love the special veggies!!! Z did like them a lot. I am having a tough time with making all her food, but she’s liking some of it…other stuff she gags. Idk WHAT I’ll do if she turns out like Michael with the picky eating haha
Yum! This is being added to my pinterest right now:)
Thanks!!!
yum! would you believe i never have tried hemp seeds? i’ve had hemp protein powder which is well…earthy
i haven’t been to creative lately keeping my eats very simple! i’ve been so enamored with little ‘projects’ every night, nate & i forget to eat until like 930pm haha. we just get swept up i guess?
You and Nate HAVE been up to so much! I know the feeling though! So fun!
Thanks for the workout!
Well even if it didn’t turn out the way you wanted to, it looks tasty!
I made a second batch of healthified banana bread the other day, and it definitely tasted “healthy”.
No, it turned out even better like I said! I revamped it from the smoothie recipe and played with it to make it blog worthy!
This might be the healthiest pudding I’ve ever seen. GO LAURY!
This would be good for me to make to use up the hemp seeds I bought a while back. I haven’t been putting good use to them!..
I’m making beets chips right now and hoping they’ll turn out great! We’ll have to see!
Ohhh I am excited to see your beet chips! That sounds amazing!
This looks fantastic! I tried to make chocolate chip cookie dough stuffed brownies…they bombed completely!
awww sounds like a good idea though!
now that recipe sounds like something we would make
sometimes think i prefer puddings over smoothies
and hate when a recipe does go as planned but always fun to try to “save it”
wait wait, when was the last time I made a recipe and it didn’t turn out how I expected? Ummmmm…ALL THE TIME!!!
Morphing your recipe gone wrong into something delicious like you did is just called being awesome! I like how your brain works chica! This does looks like a really great recipe for kids too! Chocolate pudding, yes. Winning. haha I LOVEO chia seeds and the effect they have after sitting overnight. My faves! I would totally do that! Thanks for reminding me that I really need to whip up another batch of chia seed pudding. its been awhile! Hey, I ALSO need to go back and check out your pumpkin pie thing from last year. looks like I may be making two right along with you, and you already know my belly is going to be doing some growing. Like serious business growing. LOL LOVE YA!
Ha…well that’s why you’re so fabulous! I have no patience but this “smoothie” tasted so yummy, then I just added and subtracted and made it even better!!!
